Youth Forum members discuss youth policy with MEPs and MPs in Brussels

04/12/2015

Delegates from the European Youth Forum member organisations had an unprecedented opportunity to discuss youth policies with high-level European politicians in Brussels between the 2nd and 3rd of December and to learn about relevant issues for youth that are being tackled at the EU level.

The program included an EU advocacy meeting open to all members as well as an evening reception to informally meet with members of the European Parliament and members of national parliaments of the EU working on culture, education and youth.

The Youth Forum delegates were also invited to an inter-parliamentary committee meeting on Education and Youth at the European Parliament. Organised by the Committee on Education and Culture (CULT), the discussion focused on youth policies, life-long learning and social inclusion of young people.

Also the European Youth Forum Secretary General Allan Päll spoke during the high level panel, together with the Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, the Luxembourg Minister for Education and Youth Claude Meisch and CULT Chair Silvia Costa. In his intervention Päll stressed the importance of a rights-based, cross-sectorial and participative youth policy.

Aleksandra Kluczka from AEGEE Europe (Youth Forum member organisation) shares her thoughts on the Interparliamentary Committee meeting on Education and Youth.

Also Joanna Tuffy, member of the Irish House of Representatives, spoke to us after the meeting.
