Young European Federalists support the LoveYouthFuture campaign!

17/04/2014

On 8th and 9th April, the European Youth Forum was at the European Parliament to call on MEP candidates to sign its European elections campaign, LoveYouthFuture, pledges.

Political party youth organisations also committed to supporting the campaign. Among these was the Young European Federalists (JEF).

The LoveYouthFuture campaign aims to bring attention to the solutions that youth are demanding from political parties and candidates. Young people across Europe face common challenges, including unemployment, social marginalisation and political exclusion and the LoveYouthFuture pledges show how the EU can combat these problems.

According to Espen Bers-Larsen, JEF board member and project manager of the “Move Europe” campaign:

“JEF is supporting the LoveYouthFuture campaign because it is important to bring more attention to youth issues. We’ll help encourage more MEP candidates to sign up to LoveYouthFuture by bringing the pledges on our bus trip through 10 countries in the EU!”

With seven weeks to go until the European Elections, nearly 180 MEPs and candidates from nearly all countries and political parties have signed the pledges. Two leading candidates for political parties, Martin Schulz (PES) and Ska Keller (Greens) have also signed their Pledge to Youth.

JEF has its own election campaign – Move Europe – which is its biggest campaign over the last five years. It wants to draw the attention of young people to European issues. And, as part of the campaign, JEF is organising a bus trip around the EU beginning on 29th April in Brussels and finishing on 19th May with stops in Maastricht, Munster, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Zagreb, Milano, Barcelona and Strasbourg. Two main pan-European actions are scheduled: “Vote for a sustainable future” and “Time to vote for a Federation!”.

The European Youth Forum supports this campaign and encourages young people to contribute ideas for a better Europe and make their voice heard in the European elections in May!
