Working Group on Funding explores solutions to the financing situation on youth work

19/11/2013

The Working Group (WG) on Funding further discussed the financing situation on youth work in Europe at its second meeting in Brussels from the 8th to 10th November.

During the meeting, the WG identified and tracked changes in the European Youth Foundation's (EYF) new system, particularly with regard to the grant structure and online applications. The group will collect more detailed feedback from the European Youth Forum’s member organisations by launching a short survey in early December.

In addition, the group noted the Joint Council on Youth’s decision to include a volunteer time contribution mechanism to the EYF’s funding schemes and explored the Erasmus+ Programme Guide draft. It will continue to monitor the draft and help analyse subsequent ones.

Also on the WG’s agenda was the funding of youth organisations’ diversifying opportunities, which included exploring fundraising strategies and corporate social responsibility schemes as well as helping identify European Union (EU) or other donor programs possibly accessible to youth organisations.

Finally, the WG identified its tasks and will focus on their implementation the remainder of its mandate in 2014. The group remains at the membership’s disposal should any support be required or should issues arise in the upcoming year.
