Who are the finalists for European Youth Capital 2022?
The European Youth Forum is very excited to present the 5 shortlisted cities that at still in the running to become the European Youth Capital 2022 (EYC 2022)!
The cities are (in alphabetical order):
Baia Mare (Romania)
Kazan (Russia)
Poznań (Poland)
Tirana (Albania)
Varaždin (Croatia)
EYC 2022 application process attracted cities from across Europe, with campaigns focusing on a wide range of different issues and presenting many interesting ideas on youth participation.
We are especially pleased to see an increasing number of cities ready to not only to invest in youth but also to work hand in hand with young people and youth organisations throughout the different stages of their campaign for the European Youth Capital title.
The shortlisted cities for EYC 2022 were selected by an independent Jury that comprises of representatives of the following institutions and organisations:
European Parliament
Committee of the Regions
Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe
European Economic & Social Committee
Council of European Municipalities & Regions
Advisory Council of Youth of the Council of Europe
OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights
Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe
Open Society Initiative for Europe
International IDEA
EURACTIV
European Movement International
Eurodesk
European Youth Forum
While not shortlisted this time, we also acknowledge the impressive submissions of:
Bilbao (Spain)
Gdynia (Poland)
Leiden (the Netherlands)
Lviv (Ukraine)
Ribeira Grande (Portugal)
Ulyanovsk (Russia)
Veszprém (Hungary)
The European Youth Forum will send detailed feedback to all cities that applied for the first round and will also continue to work with those cities that were not shortlisted but wish to re-apply for the title next time.
Next steps
In the next round of the competition, the shortlisted cities have until 26 May 2019 to submit a more detailed application outlining an extensive programme of youth-related cultural, social and political events and activities.
The shortlisted cities will again receive recommendations on their detailed applications from the independent Jury and a Focus Group, and will submit their final, updated applications 22 September 2019.
Then the shortlisted cities will have a last chance to convince the EYC 2022 Selection Jury why they should be awarded the title at the Jury meeting taking place prior the official Award Ceremony in Amiens, European Youth Capital 2020, 21 November 2019 where the winner will be announced.
