The Federation of Young European Greens lends its support to the LoveYouthFuture campaign!

16/04/2014

On 8th and 9th April, the European Youth Forum was at the European Parliament to call on MEP candidates to sign its European elections campaign, LoveYouthFuture, pledges.

Political party youth organisations also committed to supporting the campaign. Among these was the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG), whose co-spokesperson Michael Bloss visited the Youth Forum stand.

The LoveYouthFuture campaign aims to bring attention to the solutions that youth are demanding from political parties and candidates. Young people across Europe face common challenges, including unemployment, social marginalisation and political exclusion and the LoveYouthFuture pledges show how the EU can combat these problems.

According to Michael Bloss, FYEG co-spokeperson: “The LoveYouthFuture pledges are really good. They can engage people as well as naming and shaming. We contributed to these with our policy papers, especially the one on the vote at 16. The 2014 European elections are the opportunity to give hope to young people. They have to reclaim Europe! The FYEG will organise five action weeks to raise awareness on several issues, such as sustainable development, migration, democracy or gender equality. It is now time to show that we can also achieve something for the future!”

With seven weeks to go until the European Elections, over 180 MEPs and candidates from nearly all countries and political parties have signed the pledges. The leading candidate for the Greens, Ska Keller, has also signed her Pledge to Youth.

The European Youth Forum supports this campaign and encourages young people to contribute ideas for a better Europe and make their voice heard in the European elections in May!
