Strengthening youth organisations with quality assurance training

18/09/2013

The University of Youth and Development will hold its 14th meeting with the topic “Democratic Citizenship” from 22nd to 29th September. As a core partner, the Youth Forum will contribute to building and strengthening the capacity of European and global youth organisations by offering Quality Assurance of Non-Formal Education (NFE) training in the framework of the University.

Twenty-two participants from youth organisations across Europe will be introduced to the Forum's Framework for Quality Assurance (QA) of Non-Formal Education (NFE) and overall purpose for recognising the quality of NFE. Using participatory, interactive and hands-on methods, participants will learn how to implement the QA process in their NFE work through the development of quality indicators as well as peer support and feedback. The Forum’s Manual on Quality Assurance will be used to support the training.

As NFE providers, youth organisations play a key role in empowering young citizens to become active, responsible and engaged in building democratic societies. The quality of the education they provide is an essential element in achieving this goal. By learning how to implement the Framework, youth organisations will be expected to increase their level of awareness about their educational work and contribute to further improving the overall quality of their NFE projects.
