Over 8000 young people in Strasbourg: Ready to shape the future

01/06/2018

The biggest youth political festival in Europe kicked off today in Strasbourg.

From 1-2 June, the YO!Fest organised by the European Youth Forum, brings together high-level speakers, politicians, activists and influencers together with young people to debate the present and future of Europe.

Young people from all over the EU and beyond are taking part in hundreds of free activities, debates, performances and workshops happening right outside the European Parliament. Despite extreme weather conditions that threatened to disrupt the event, young people have shown resilience and every possible effort has been made to ensure an amazing experience for all participants.

The European Youth Forum is delighted to partner once again with the European Youth Event, organised by the European Parliament and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Yo!Fest.

Luis Alvarado, President of the European Youth Forum

The political activism, engagement and energy being shown here at Yo!Fest is incredible. Now when Europe is facing so many challenges from Brexit to the rise of populism, social inequality and political uncertainty we need a space like the Yo!Fest to come together.

He continues:

The countdown is on until the next European elections and young people are here to bring their visions and ideas directly to decision-makers. Young people are ready to take the lead and shape a future that they want.
