Opportunity for Youth Forum members to meet national and European politicians to help shape youth policy in the EU

20/11/2015

The European Youth Forum invites its member organisations to meet MPs, Permanent Representations and also MEPs at events in Brussels on the 2nd and 3rd of December. This will be an unprecedented opportunity to discuss issues and policy processes related to youth, both at European and national levels. If you are a member of the Youth Forum and would like to attend the events, please register here.

On the morning of 3rd December the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of the European Parliament will host a unique event bringing together delegations of MPs from the national parliaments working on culture, youth, education and sport from each of the 28 EU members states and MEPs from the CULT committee.

There will be an introductory high-level panel with a youth focus, at which the Youth Forum will speak. This will be followed by three panel debates on youth policies in Europe. This event is a great opportunity to discuss youth issues and the challenges that young people face, both at a national and European level. For those who will not be able to attend the meeting, it will be live-streamed on the EP website here and covered by the #parliamentsonyouth.

The day before (2nd December), the European Youth Forum will host a EU advocacy meeting for its members. This meeting will provide key information about upcoming EU processes related to youth. It will also be an opportunity for a discussion between members on youth policy and to share priorities and upcoming activities and campaigns.

In the evening, the Youth Forum will host a Youth Policy networking event with MEPs, MPs coming to the Inter-committee meeting and other stakeholders, including the European Commission. The Forum’s members will have the chance to meet and engage with decision-makers in the youth field at national and European level. On the afternoon of the 2nd and 3rd of December, National Youth Councils, who will also be invited to come to Brussels on those days, could their Permanent Representatives here in Brussels with the support of the Forum.

Those days offer multiple opportunities to make young people’s voice heard and for YFJ members to contribute shaping youth policy at European and national levels.
