On Tuesday and Wednesday this week the European Youth Forum was at the European Parliament to meet and debate the LoveYouthFuture campaign with MEPs and candidates for the European Elections.

The LoveYouthFuture campaign aims to bring attention to the solutions that youth are demanding from political parties and candidates.

Young people are face common challenges across Europe, including unemployment, social marginalisation and political exclusion and the LoveYouthFuture Pledges show how the EU can end this.

With seven weeks to go until the European Elections, nearly 180 MEPs and candidates from nearly all countries and political parties have signed the pledges.

Two leading candidates for Political Parties, Martin Schulz (PES) and Ska Keller (Greens) have also signed their Pledge to Youth.

As well as being present in the European Parliament – the LoveYouthFuture campaign also raised awareness about youth solutions at 3 party congresses during February and March.

The pledges, eleven in total, highlight the importance of Europe as a solution to the problems facing its youth and are divided into three categories: Love, Youth and Future. The pledges include protecting young workers, volunteers and interns, providing all young people with the opportunity to have a quality education, fully implementing an improved Youth Guarantee scheme, encouraging the free movement of young people and lowering the voting age to 16.

Candidates for the EU elections are encouraged to sign up to six or more pledges to show their dedication to the next generation of Europeans and to make Europe a great place for young people to live, work and study.

We would like to thank some of our member organisations for the support they gave to collect the pledges: JEF (Young European Federalists) YES (Young European Socialists) FYEG (Federation of Young European Greens) and ESU (European Students Union).
