The European Youth Event 2014 (EYE 2014) is coming soon! Today (19th February) is the last day of the preparatory meeting for the event. Over three days, more than 50 group leaders and 20 volunteers have met in Strasbourg with the EYE project team to prepare for the event. These young people will have a critical role to play in the success of the EYE 2014.

Those at the prep meeting received briefings on the event logistics, brainstormed the possibility of organising different activities to contribute to the YO!Fest programme, and discussed how to promote the event.

They were also invited to take a tour of the Strasbourg European Parliament and to explore the area where the YO!Village, organised by the European Youth Forum, will be. The Yo!Village will combine many interactive activities run by and for young people: stands, debates, workshops, artistic performances such as dance, theatre, street art, sport, and also a space to chill and have informal discussions: the YO!Café.

EYE 2014 will take place on 9-11 May in Strasbourg, just a few weeks before the European Elections. The 5,000 young people that attend will be traveling from all over Europe and will have the opportunity to meet European decision makers and discuss their ideas for a better Europe.

As part of EYE, the European Youth Forum is organising the YO!Fest, which, as well as the YO!Village set around the Parliament, will also include an open air concert – with ethno/world music – on the Friday evening organised in collaboration with the City of Strasbourg. On the Saturday evening there will be a club night electro/pop/rock featuring the winner of the Emerging Band Contest. Headline acts for both nights to be confirmed.

We can’t wait to see all of you that have registered for EYE 2014! We want to thank again the volunteers and the group leaders who will have a critical role to play in the success of the EYE 2014!
