European Youth Capital 2021 – finalist cities revealed!

16/03/2018

We’re very excited to present the final 5 cities in the running to become European Youth Capital 2021 (EYC2021)!

They are (in alphabetical order):

Chișinău (Moldova)

Klaipėda (Lithuania)

Greater Nicosia (Cyprus)

Yaroslavl (Russia)

Varaždin (Croatia)

The European Youth Forum is delighted to see cities working together with young people and we are proud to say that this year brought an incredibly high standard of applications from across Europe.

Each applicant city brings a unique and fresh perspective on how youth can participate in developing the cultural, social, political and economic life of the city. The finalist cities for EYC2021 were selected by an independent Jury.

While not shortlisted this year, we also acknowledge the impressive submissions from Aalborg (Denmark), Kazan (Russia), and Kaunas (Lithuania). The Youth Forum will soon send detailed feedback to all who applied and will continue to work with those cities that wish to reapply for the EYC2022 title.

What happens next?

In the next round of the competition, the shortlisted cities have until the 3rd of June to submit a more detailed application outlining an extensive programme of youth-related cultural, social and political events and activities.

They will also receive recommendations from the independent Jury and a Focus Group and will submit their final, updated applications by the end of September.
