On Saturday and Sunday (6th - 7th September), the Youth Forum held, in Brussels, the second meeting of the year of its Working Group on Education,. Composed of representatives from 6 of its member organisations – LiJOT, WAGGGS, OBESSU, AEGEE, CNAJEP, ESU– this session focussed on preparations for Education Week.

This year’s Education Week – taking place in Brussels from 3rd – 7th November – is hosted by the Youth Forum and aims to provide a space for the European Youth Forum and its members to advocate for the right to quality education for all young people in Europe.

This week dedicated to education will be an opportunity for the Youth Forum to highlight its priorities on education policy, including the revision of the ET2020, the European Area of skills and qualifications, the implementation of the 2012 Council Recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning the recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning, and the post-2015 agenda on education.

Education Week will include a variety of events such as high-level panels, roundtables, seminars, a peer-learning workshop for members, as well as more informal events and activities.

The Youth Forum is looking forward to cooperating with its members as well as partners from the youth and education field during Education Week and thanks all the participants of the Working Group for this fruitful weekend!

More about the Education week:

Held annually in Brussels since 2006, the 2014 Education Week is the successor of the NFE Week (2010-2012) and the Dialogue series on the recognition of NFE (2006-2009). In the same spirit as in previous events, the Education Week will gather all relevant stakeholders concerned about and committed to fulfilling the right of young people to quality education: policy and decisions-makers at EU, Council of Europe and UN institutions; educational providers from both formal and non-formal
