Children and Youth Hub ahead of UN Sustainable Development Summit
With the UN Sustainable Development Summit just around the corner, the Major Group for Children and Youth, together with other partners, organised a two-day Children and Youth Hub to train the youth delegates on communicating sustainable development goals to their communities.
The Children and Youth Hub, held from the 20th to the 22nd of September in the heart of Manhattan, gathered 80 young participants ahead of the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit.
This training session included workshops on advocacy, social media, and networking. One of the goals was to prepare the participants to communicate the sustainable development goals (SDGs) to their own communities. The participants also discussed the next phases of the Sustainable Development Agenda: its implementation, monitoring and review.
The UN Summit is the culmination of several years of work and negotiations on the post-2015 framework, which is now called 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Set to start on the 25th of September, it will also be a moment to plan the implementation of this agenda over the next 15 years.
UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, participated in the Hub’s closing ceremony.
