Building strong youth organisations: Youth Work Working Group meets again

The Youth Work Working Group held its second meeting between Friday, 13th September, and Sunday, 15th September, during which it discussed its contributions to a two-year mandate with the objective of providing valuable input to the Youth Forum’s work in multiple areas.

Youth Forum staff and representatives from four participating MOs first reflected on the outcome of the National Youth Council Sustainability Training that took place in June, when the Forum surveyed its membership about their priorities and concerns. Afterward, attendants moved on to discuss the Eastern Europe and Caucasus region event aimed at increasing the capacity of EEC National Youth Councils, as well as the Policy Commission at the upcoming November COMEM. In addition, they supplied useful information for the Forum’s Youth Work Policy Paper. The Forum had previously turned to its membership about the concept of “youth work,” and at the meeting, the group clarified and condensed all such input from members.

Participants also offered more insight to the Youth Policy Training scheduled from Monday, 16th September, until Thursday, 19th September. The four-day training was organized to help NYCs and INGYOs (International Non-Governmental Youth Organisations) develop skills on policy development from a youth work perspective. Such efforts on the Working Group’s part help the Forum build strong youth organisations in Europe that can effectively advocate youth issues.
